The Training Belt was designed in collaboration with patients, physiotherapists and doctors.

Through interviews, workshops and in-context testing, physiotherapists demonstrated specific exercises and IdemoBits were utilised to evaluate various ways to improve the patient’s ability to optimally complete a personalised exercise regime.

As the design of the Training Belt progressed, many applications for it developed, such as the use of training videos specific to each patient, demonstrating and correcting posture; the use of a training diary which would record the Training Belt’s report on how and when exercises were conducted, a virtual training partner working with the patient and the Training Belt, online consultation using the report from the Training Belt, and virtual community training where patients could train together online.

Other applications included a virtual training partner working with the patient and the Training Belt, online consultation using the report from the Training Belt, and virtual community training where patients could train together online.

Through the combination of practical application, considerations for size of electronics and patient’s actual use in context, the Training Belt provides an easy to use solution which monitors and guides the actual exercise done by patients, displaying their progress over time.
